What Are Some Qualities of an Inferior Commercial Loan Broker? (Part 3)

November 17, 2014

This is part 3 in a series of articles on qualities of an inferior commercial loan broker. As stated on part 2 of this series, it can be very useful to know what to look for in an inferior commercial loan broker. It can help you in your quest for getting great loans for your commercial real-estate.

Today I will share some subtle qualities of an inferior commercial loan broker that you might not normally think about. But, they could at least be clues that the lender may not be a very good loan source for the apartment loan, office building loan, mobile storage loan, etc., you wan to get their help with.

  1. When you talk with them, they show that they have no enthusiasm for their work. They may have a low mood level such as boredom, depressed etc. Why would you want to work with someone who doesn’t like their job? Their performance could suffer. However, there is an exception. Perhaps they are having a bad day or have some upset going on in their life.
  2. This one is somewhat like 1 above. You get the feeling they don’t care about having your business. They have too much business now which could cause them not to do a very good job. Also, there are employees of some companies whose principle motivations are the weekend and the paycheck coming up at the end of the week. Again, someone like this may not perform as well as is needed by you.
  3. You get the feeling they are not working hard for you. If they are a commercial real-estate broker, they might only give you one loan source option instead of two or three when there are a number of possible options. And each time you talk with them they seem to want to get off the phone with you even though you are discussing important matters closely connected to your loan.
